Background
After decades of struggle for freedom, Syria stands at the threshold of a new chapter — a historic opportunity to rebuild and nurture a stable, peaceful future.
The Syria Rebuilding Collective was born from this hope. Led by Syrian Volunteers Netherlands (SYVNL), we are an international movement of Syrians in the diaspora and their allies, united to help shape Syria’s recovery. We carry with us the trauma of war and displacement, but also the conviction that from suffering can come strength. Our mission is both trauma-aware and future-oriented: we honor the stories and wounds of our people even as we focus on healing, growth, and the bold act of imagining a new Syria built on dignity and hope.
What We Do
We organize events and dialogues that bring Syrians and allies together across sectors to connect, reflect, and collaborate. These gatherings go beyond surface conversations—they create space for honest discussion, shared learning, and trust-building.
Through this, we’re laying the foundation for a Syrian-led ecosystem of recovery—one rooted in connection, community, care, and long-term collaboration. Whether in Amsterdam, Delft, Berlin, Damascus or beyond, every gathering is a step toward a future where Syrians can rebuild home with dignity—and with each other.
Our Principles
We believe that rebuilding Syria isn’t just about restoring buildings – it’s about rebuilding lives, communities, and trust. Our collective charter is grounded in four core principles that guide everything we do:
Every Syrian voice matters
People and environment-centered rebuilding
Syrian-led solutions
Brave and respectful dialogue
These principles aren’t just words – they are promises. They shape a rebuilding process that is just, inclusive, and empowering. We know as Syrians that this moment is a once-in-a-generation opportunity, and seizing it will require immense, coordinated efforts at all levels. Guided by our charter, we are committed to making those efforts truly count for the people of Syria.
